Collection Policy
The following types of works are considered for inclusion in the museum collection:

- Works that show the relationship of mutual influence that has existed between European and Japanese modern artists since the opening of the Port of Yokohama
- Works that foster understanding of the development of and trends in contemporary art, and clearly represent the issues that concern artists today
- Works that are representative of photography as a medium of modern and contemporary art
- Works by artists who contributed to the development of Japanese modern art under the guidance and patronage of OKAKURA Tenshin and HARA Sankei
- Works by artists born or active in Yokohama
- Works of contemporary decorative art, design, architecture, film and video
