クリエイティブシティ・ヨコハマとは～横浜市が進めるクリエイティブな街づくり

Creative City Yokohama : Urban renewal through art and creativity, Yokohama style

市民の豊かさと都市の発展のために―。
"海を囲む独自の歴史や文化"があふれる街、横浜。この豊かな都市資源と、芸術や文化のもつクリエイティブな力を生かして、都市の新しい価値や魅力を生み出す街づくりを進めるという考え方が「文化芸術創造都市クリエイティブシティ・ヨコハマ」です。　つまり、文化、アート、経済の振興と横浜らしい魅力的な都市空間の形成というソフトとハードの施策を融合させた新たな都市ビジョンです。

この施策のもと、横浜では、アーティスト・クリエイターが住みたくなる創造環境の実現、デザイン・映画・映像・音楽・コンピューターソフト等の創造産業の集積[クラスターの形成]による経済活性化、歴史的建造物の転用を図った魅力ある地域資源の活用、市民の主体的な活動の活性化、の４つの目標を掲げ、様々な試みが展開されています。特に、2004年に始まった「創造界隈の形成」プロジェクトでは、アーティストやクリエーターが創作、発表、滞在（居住）する場として、都心部に残る歴史的建造物、倉庫、空きオフィス等を転用。BankART 1929（銀行）、BankART Studio NYK（倉庫）、急な坂スタジオ（結婚式場）、ＺＡＩＭ（旧関東財務局）、黄金町地区（特殊飲食店群）、「創造空間９００１」（旧東横線桜木町駅舎）など、建物や土地のもつ歴史を生かした創造拠点が次々と誕生し、クリエイティブな都市空間の形成と、まちの活性化につながっています。

Yokohama is a harbor city with a unique history and vibrant culture. Since opening up to the world in 1859, the city has been a gateway to Japan, an arrival and departure point for a dizzying array of people, goods, news and information, in the process developing into an exciting cultural nexus.

Creative City Yokohama is an approach to urban renewal that combines civic resources found only in Yokohama with the creative power of art and culture to generate new value for the city and make it an even more attractive place to be. Numerous ventures are currently in progress, based on a vision for the city that fuses ideas and infrastructure in arts and culture, business promotion, and the development of new urban spaces.
