History

「旧第一銀行横浜支店」は、1929年に第一銀行の横浜支店として建てられた古典主義様式の建築物を移築・復元した歴史的建造物。重厚なトスカーナ式オーダーの列柱を並べた半円形のバルコニーが特徴の美しい建物です。

2004年、横浜市が推進する歴史的建造物を活用した芸術文化創造の実験的プログラム（都心部歴史的建造物活用事業）の第一号として、この建物を舞台に「BankART1929 Yokohama」がスタート（運営：NPO法人BankART1929）、横浜のアートシーンを牽引してきました。

2009年5月より、「ヨコハマ・クリエイティブシティ・センター（ＹＣＣ）」として、また2010年4月1日より新生「ヨコハマ創造都市センター」として、文化、アート、経済振興を融合させた横浜市の街づくり「クリエイティブシティ・ヨコハマ」の推進拠点という機能を担い、新たな歴史を重ねています。

The former Dai-Ichi Bank is a listed heritage building, constructed in 1929 in the Classical style as the bank's Yokohama branch, then later moved to its present site and restored to its former glory. A standout feature of this attractive building is its balcony of Tuscan order columns.

In 2004 the building became home to "BankART1929 Yokohama", the first in a series of municipal experiments using heritage buildings to promote creativity in the arts and culture. BankART 1929 has since grown to play a leading role in the Yokohama art scene.

Since May 2009 the building has once again taken on a new identity, this time as the "Yokohama Creativecity Center", a base for pushing forward the Creative City Yokohama strategy combining art, urban renewal, and business promotion.
