Arts Commission Yokohama is established as the arts and culture section of the Creative City Yokohama Council.
It is jointly operated by the 150th Anniversary of the Port Opening and Creative City Headquarters City of Yokohama and Yokohama Arts Foundation, to promote the development of “Creative City Yokohama”.
　Yokohama's “Creative City of Arts and Culture” initiative envisions the city that gives free rein to creativity in the arts and culture. Among its many projects are the International Triennale of Contemporary Art Yokohama and the establishment of “Creative Core Area” in which historic buildings, warehouses and other spaces are converted into centers for producing and exhibiting creative works.
Attracting artists and creators who are the dynamic focus of creative activity in Yokohama is another vital component of that initiative.
Arts Commission Yokohama's mission is to provide supports to Yokohama-based independent artists, creators, non-profit organizations and all people who engage creative activities. We create an environment that facilitates the ongoing independent work of arts and creation.
